Fakieh Group, ICHTHUS, JDC Legend champs in SEIKO Watch-JBL tilt

JEDDAH: Fakieh Group of playing coach Ruel Bristol defeated New Cabalen Restaurant – R Printing 78-77 to capture the Group A Inter-Company championship in the SEIKO Watch-JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Khalidia court here.
Fakieh Group showed fighting heart in the dying seconds as New Cabalen Restaurant – R Printing continued to attack the enemy defense. Caneta scored 24 points for Fakieh Group and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Condes contributed 27 points for New Cabalen Restaurant – R Printing.

Wasalak 40’s of playing coach Fred Concepcon beat JDC Veterans 86-71 to tie the best-of-3 championship series at 1-1 in the 40 & above division. Wasalak 40’s showed fine team work in the whole game as JDC Veterans offense collapsed in the crucial minutes of the game.
Aquino top-scored with 37 points for Wasalak 40’s and was adjudged as the New Cabalen best player of the game while Callueng scored 16 points for JDC Veterans.
ICHTHUS of Dennis Elmenzo downed KD Tambays 112-93 to be the champion in the Group A division. ICHTHUS offense was unstoppable but KD Tambayz played never-say-die offense even their 2 key players are absent.
ICHTHUS came strong in the final quarter as KD Tambayz committed crucial turnovers in the dying seconds of the game. David chipped in 24 points for ICHTHUS and was adjudged as the Giordano Best Player of the game while King Acosta scored 38 points for the Khalidia Tambayz.
JDC Legend beat JDC All Star A 97-96 in overtime for the championship trophy in the Inter-Dawah division. JDC All Star almost extended the series to game 3 but JDC Legend regrouped with only 2 minutes in the game clock to force the game into overtime. It was a ding-dong match in the extension period but JDC Legend went to its main man Jaber Gonzales for the winning basket. Gonzales finished the night with 42 big points and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Jameel Cobre and Rasheed Florentino scored 29 and 20 points respectably for JDC All Star A.
