It is surprising seeing the world’s listless attitude toward the massacres in Aleppo. My point is what is the fault of innocent Syrian civilians who are being massacred and women being raped? The indications are that Iran and Bashar Assad are bent on the act of genocide, and inflaming sectarian violence. Above all, Russia’s behavior is deplorable as it sides with the tyrant and barbaric ruler, Assad. If Russia wants to help Assad and wants to safeguard his position as president of Syria, then it should think along humanitarian grounds and give civilians safe passage out of Aleppo.
It has been confirmed that if Russia had not started aerial bombardment, the situation would have developed in favor of the opposition fighters and Assad might have been dislodged. At the same time, US President Barack Obama’s attitude has been very careless toward Syria; he seems not to care a fig for the safety of innocent Syrians. He just made comments in condemning Assad’s attack and did nothing. Due to this, Russia saw a chance to create havoc in Syria and began killing innocent Syrians.
Another point is that Hezbollah is a fascist party, but Russia has been working along with it and America has also given tacit support to the group. This shows the double standards of the superpowers.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is defending the legitimate government of Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in Yemen against the fascist organization of the Houthis, but America blames Saudi only and has a soft spot for the Houthis. All these incidents indicate that superpowers do not see the just actions of suppressed countries but only support fascist groups. It is high time the world should wake up, find its conscience and support innocent and suppressed peoples so that the oppressors may be brought to justice.
