JEDDAH: Riyadh police have arrested two armed Saudis in their 30s, who stopped an Arab resident and stole his car and personal belongings.

Police spokesman Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman said the armed Saudis had been standing by a road in the Thamama area asking for a ride.

After they entered the car, they pulled out their weapons and told the driver to get out of the vehicle. They stole his wallet and fled.

After the incident was reported, an investigation team went to the scene and started monitoring the area, during which it noticed and stopped the assailants trying to get away.

A vehicle search found a weapon, money and mobile phones. They confessed to the crime after interrogation. They remain in custody amid further investigation.
