JEDDAH: Lebanese diva Carole Samaha will perform at the historic Olympia theater in Paris on April 20.
Samaha will become one of just a handful of Arab singers to perform at the iconic venue, which has hosted concerts by Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez, Ahlam, Najwa Karam, Hakim and, most recently, Elissa, who performed there in November last year.
Samaha, 45, has been heavily promoting the upcoming concert on her social media accounts.
“I will be waiting for you at the prestigious #Olympia #Paris for an unforgettable night on Friday April 20th at 8:00 PM,” she tweeted on Friday.
Tickets are available online and start at €45 ($56).
Samaha’s latest music video “Ensa Hmoumak,” directed by Thierry Vergnes from Paris and arranged by Michel Fadel, has been viewed over 339,000 times.
Situated between the Place de l’Opéra and Place de la Madeleine, the Olympia Bruno Coquatrix was the first music hall to open in Paris. The first big star to appear on its stage was La Goulue — the famous cancan dancer. Since then, an extensive list of huge stars have played there, including Edith Piaf, Joséphine Baker, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Madonna.
