ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has started distributing pencils with seeds to schoolchildren in Karachi as part of its Million Tree Tsunami initiative announced in February.
“This is a very innovative concept to encourage children to plant,” tweeted Dr. Arif Alvi, president of PTI’s Sindh chapter.
The rubber part of the pencil has a degradable capsule that contains seeds of cucumber, okra, eggplant, spinach and coriander, he added.
In February, PTI announced its plan to replicate its Billion Tree Tsunami project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on a smaller scale in Karachi.
