DUBAI: The UAE’s authorities said laborers and domestic workers will have their visas renewed automatically and are exempt from medical tests, state news agency WAM reported.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said the move was part of the country’s efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Laborers will not need to visit medical examination centers while fees will be collected through authorized payment channels.
Meanwhile the UAE authorities asked business owners to report suspected cases of coronavirus, and urged all residents and citizens to adhere to precautionary measures.
Failure to do so can be legally prosecuted, so far 64 people have been referred to the Public Prosecutor for violating the law on communicable diseases.
