Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid adopt puppy together

DUBAI: Meet Dexter, the adorable new puppy that British-Albanian hitmaker Dua Lipa and her partner part-Palestinian model and musician Anwar Hadid have adopted together.

This weekend, the “Physical” singer announced that she and Hadid adopted a dog from a Los Angeles-based animal rescue shelter, who they named Dexter.

The Grammy Award winning artist introduced the puppy to her 49.6 million Instagram followers, sharing several photos of their new "tiny best friend" snuggling up to the couple.

“Thank you @thelabellefoundation” Lipa wrote, “HE'S PERFECT.”

Anwar’s older sister, Gigi Hadid took to the comment section to gush over the latest addition to the family. “My nephew A VERY GOOD BOY DEXTO FROM ABOVE,” the mom-to-be commented.

The 25-year-old shared six pictures of their new pup wearing a blue sherpa sweater and a matching collar.

In one of the snaps, the new pup can be seen sandwiched between the pair. Lipa also shared an adorable picture of Dexter nuzzled inside a jean jacket.

Anwar, who is of Dutch and Palestinian descent, also took to Instagram to share photos of his new furry friend, writing “'Our spirit companion came to us with a big number 7 on his chest.. some things are meant 2 be! BIG DEX. (sic)”

The adoption comes just a couple of months after the couple celebrated their first anniversary together.

Taking to Instagram to pay tribute to her partner, The “New Rules” hitmaker wrote, “Nothing sweeter than 365 days being joint [sic] at the hip with you,” alongside a series of sweet snaps of Hadid.

Lipa and Hadid were first rumored to be a couple when they were spotted at a concert in Hyde Park, London, in July 2019 — and they soon made it Instagram official.

While the duo has kept things relatively lowkey, they have been spotted together a few times, including at the 2019 American Music Awards in November, which marked their first red carpet appearance together.

The couple recently spent a sun-drenched holiday in St. Lucia after months of self-isolation together at a London Airbnb.

They made their way back to the US last month, where they were spotted at Anwar’s mother Yolanda Hadid’s Pennsylvania farmhouse on several occasions.

Dubai’s streetwear festival Sole DXB canceled due to pandemic

DUBAI: The region’s premiere streetwear festival, Sole DXB, will not be happening in 2020, the organizers announced via a statement on Sunday.

The organizers revealed that they “aren’t confident” that they can deliver the experience festival-goers “deserve with the health and safety standards” they expect.

“While the situation continues to improve on the ground in Dubai, the festival is a collective effort by our community around the world and we’re ready to wait ‘til they can be a part of it too,” said the statement.

Organizers also announced that they do not have a new date set. The streetwear and music festival typically takes place during the first week of December.

The urban and streetwear festival seamlessly brings together the region’s music lovers and sneakerheads, who flock to Dubai Design District to enjoy performances from top artists such as Nas and Wu Tang Clan as well as shop local and international streetwear brands.

In light of the pandemic, Sole DXB recently launched a new mixed-media platform, sole.digital, dedicated to music, fashion, the visual arts and sports from the Middle East, India, Africa, the Caribbean and their diasporas.
