Pakistani authorities to ban train travel for unvaccinated from October

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has said only passengers who have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine will be allowed to travel by train in the country from October 1.
The decision was made by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the government’s central body dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, on Monday evening.
“After October 1, 2021, passengers who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be allowed to travel,” Pakistan railways said in a Twitter post.

Railways also said it was launching a campaign to create vaccine awareness among the masses.
Pakistan reported 3,884 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, with 86 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 1,075,504. The national positivity rate is almost eight percent.

Last month, the NCOC announced that anyone who did not hold a COVID-19 vaccination certificate would not be allowed to travel by air after August 1. It also announced banning staff from entering public offices, schools, restaurants, transport and shopping malls without vaccination certificates.
