JEDDAH, 2 May - Al-Hilal club won the prestigious King Fahd Cup after a tough fight with Al-Ittihad, scoring a 2-1 victory in the final match yesterday. Abdullah Al-Jamaan scored the two goals for Al-Hilal in the 80th and 87th minutes while the consolation goal for Al-Ittihad was scored by Hasan Al-Yami in the 90th minute.

On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd, Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, attended the match. This was the sixth time both the teams were fighting for the cup in the final. The last one was in 1997 in which Al-Ittihad won 2-0.

Though the game started in slow pace Sami Al-Jaber made a startling move in which the ball missed the Ittihad post by inches. Al-Yami also made a dangerous move at the Al-Hilal post but the goalkeeper caught the ball struck from close quarters. The first half ended with no goals.
