MANAMA, 29 September 2003 — A Bahraini Royal Air Force jet crashed off the coast of the Gulf Arab kingdom late on Saturday during a training mission and its pilot is still missing, the Bahrain News Agency said.
BNA said the fighter plane was a US-made F-16 and that the accident occurred over the sea north of this island state. “Search and rescue operations are still ongoing,” a Defense Ministry official said without giving details.
