DAMMAM, 28 April 2004 — A descendant of former American President Grover Cleveland (1885-89) has married the daughter of Dr. Tarek Al-Suwaidan, an Islamic preacher in Kuwait.
Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat Arabic daily, a sister publication of Arab News, Suwaidan said Jonathan Brown, who is now a Muslim, married his daughter Maisoon.
The marriage ceremony took place in Kuwait earlier this month and was attended by prominent personalities including Khaled Al-Madkur and Ahmed Al-Qattan.
Brown, who is fluent in Arabic, is now preparing for his doctoral degree in “The Defense of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim,” two well-known and authentic Hadith collections.
Suwaidan said Maisoon is his daughter, not son as wrongly reported in the Kuwaiti press.
