  • Dubai franchise’s 11-3 win leaves them with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses in Baseball United season 1

DUBAI: The Arabia Wolves beat the Karachi Monarchs 11-3 at Baseball United Ballpark in Dubai on Wednesday night.

The victory leaves the Dubai franchise with a 2-2 record and improves their chances of reaching the United Series in Baseball United's inaugural season.

Karachi’s Faisal Hayat, right-handed pitcher, gave up three consecutive walks with the bases loaded and the Money Ball in play, invoking a double advance on the second and third batters he faced for a total of five runs. A Money Ball play allows the batting team to double their runs in the case of a home run.

Alex Dubord (RHP) also gave up three walks with the bases loaded and threw a wild pitch, leading to a nine-run outbreak for Arabia in the fifth inning.

Paul Myro hit a runs-batted-in bunt-single in the fifth inning, and Taylor Darden hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth, to bring in more runs for the Wolves. Elliot Good went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Paul Myro went 2-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI.

Karachi’s reliever Isaac Milburn gave up another walk with the Money Ball in play in the eighth inning against Taylor Darden, causing the runner on second base to score.

The victory was secured by Sean Fekete in relief (2.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 HR, 1 SO). Gillian Wernet worked the first three innings, with one hit allowed, three walks and three strikeouts.

Blake Purnell had an outstanding relief of 2.2 scoreless innings, with only two hits allowed and three strikeouts, while Alex Katz (0.1 IP) and Reese Miller (0.2 IP, 1 SO) completed the pitching labor.

With this victory, Arabia Wolves  (2-2) are now tied with Abu Dhabi franchise Mid East Falcons for second place in the Baseball United season one standings, as the Mumbai Cobras stay top.

Other highlights:

Mark Simon took the loss after 4.0 IP (2 H, 3 ER, 1 B, 5 SO, including 1 Fire Ball SO, for a total of 7).

Erick Meza (2-for-3, 1 RBI), and Karim Ayubi (3-for-1) stand out in the Karachi offensive.

This game leaves Karachi on the brink of elimination with a 2-5 record.
