RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and five other countries on Wednesday condemned attacks launched from Iraq by armed factions loyal to Iran against countries in the region and their facilities and infrastructure.

The Kingdom, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan called on the Iraqi government to take the necessary measures to immediately stop the attacks launched by factions, militias, and armed groups from its territory toward neighboring countries, the Saudi Press Agency said.

The countries reiterated their strongest condemnation of blatant Iranian attacks, whether carried out directly or through its proxies and the armed factions it supports in the region.

The countries reaffirmed their full and inherent right to self-defense against these criminal attacks, SPA added.

They condemned actions and activities that undermine the security and stability of countries in the region, which are planned by sleeper cells loyal to Iran and terrorist organizations linked to Hezbollah, SPA said.

The countries commended their armed forces for confronting these attacks and the vigilance of their security services.
