- Consignment part of country’s Operation Chivalrous Knight
LONDON: The UAE on Sunday delivered 53 tonnes of medical equipment and supplies to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The country was among the first to respond to the humanitarian crisis in the region, launching Operation Chivalrous Knight. The latest consignment, carried by eight trucks, was part of the third phase of the program.
The equipment will be used to support the UAE’s field hospital in Rafah and medical center in Khan Younis, the Emirates News Agency reported.
The aid effort reflects the country’s commitment to providing humanitarian support to those in need in times of crisis, it said.
Nearly 2 million Palestinians have been displaced and more than 70,000 killed since the start of the war, which has also seen the destruction of vital infrastructure, including health and education facilities.
International bodies have accused Israel of committing genocide and war crimes in the region.
