LONDON: King Abdullah of Jordan and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah met to discuss regional developments at Al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Sunday.

They discussed steps to enhance joint Arab action for sustaining de-escalation in the region amid the ongoing tension between Iran on one side and the US and Israel, according to Petra news agency.

King Abdullah emphasized that any regional de-escalation agreement must ensure the security of Arab states. He noted that the security of Gulf states is essential for both regional and global stability.

Jordan condemned on Saturday drone attacks launched by Iranian proxies in Iraq against two locations at Kuwait’s northern land border posts.

Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones against neighboring countries, including Jordan and Kuwait, after its conflict with the US and Israel began on Feb. 28.

King Abdullah emphasized the need to support Lebanon’s security and stability while preventing Israeli attempts to alter the situation in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, Petra added.

The meeting was attended by Crown Prince Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
