- Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman has invited King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit the country
RIYADH: Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sent a message of solidarity to Saudi Arabia amid the current conflict in the Middle East, and expressed a keen interest in expanding and diversifying ties.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh told Arab News on Tuesday that Foreign Adviser to the Prime Minister Humaiun Kobir met with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Waleed Elkhereiji in Riyadh.
During the meeting on Monday, Kobir, as a special envoy of the prime minister, handed over “a message of solidarity” addressed to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the embassy stated.
Kobir said the government and people of Bangladesh stood firmly with the Kingdom during these challenging times in the Middle East.
He expressed Bangladesh’s keen interest in strengthening and diversifying relations, particularly in trade and energy. Kobir also invited King Salman and the crown prince to visit Bangladesh.
Elkhereiji welcomed Kobir and thanked the Bangladesh government for the support.
Last year, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations.
