DUBAI: The UAE has condemned a failed attempt by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to infiltrate Kuwait’s Bubiyan Island earlier this month in an effort to perpetrate hostile acts on Kuwaiti territory.

In a call between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s foreign minister, the UAE official reiterated full solidarity and support for Kuwait’s measures to thwart terrorist acts.

Sheikh Abdullah also stressed that Kuwait’s security was inseparable from the security of the UAE and the Gulf states, WAM reported.

Four IRGC officers were arrested, while two others managed to escape, after they were intercepted by Kuwaiti soldiers stationed on the island. A Kuwaiti serviceman was injured during an exchange of fire.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain have also condemned the attempted infiltration of the Iranian armed group.
