The Saudi Banks Media and Awareness Committee recently celebrated its strategic partners on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the committee’s establishment in 2006, under the theme “Saudi Banks Partners — 20 Years of Impact.” The event was attended by a number of officials, media professionals, and stakeholders from the banking and financial sectors.
The ceremony featured a review of the committee’s journey and achievements over the past two decades. In her keynote address, Rabiah Mohammed Al-Shumaisi, secretary-general of the committee, highlighted its pivotal role since inception in promoting banking awareness and enhancing financial literacy across society through a wide range of educational initiatives and awareness programs that have strengthened financial knowledge and encouraged sound banking practices.
The event also included the recognition of Talat Zaki Hafiz, economist and financial analyst at Arab News, and former secretary-general of the committee, in appreciation of his outstanding efforts and valuable contributions in laying the foundations for the committee’s establishment and supporting its growth and development over the years. He received a commemorative award from Al-Shumaisi.
Hafiz delivered a brief speech expressing his sincere appreciation and pride in receiving this recognition. He said that the committee’s achievements have been the result of collective efforts and fruitful cooperation among its partners. He also praised the committee’s ongoing work under the leadership of Al-Shumaisi in advancing financial awareness, educating customers about their rights and responsibilities, combating financial fraud, and strengthening public confidence in the banking sector.
Hafiz concluded his speech by wishing the committee continued success and excellence in fulfilling its vital mission and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, thereby contributing to a more financially aware society and a more prosperous and sustainable economy.
