DAMASCUS: The first flights into Aleppo International Airport by three international airlines were an important reflection of the Syrian civil aviation sector’s accelerating recovery and the restoration of the airport’s role as a regional travel hub, said President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport Omar Hosari.
In a post on X, Hosari said the arrival of the three flights on the same day was not merely the opening of new routes but a step that reflected growing confidence among international carriers in the Syrian civil aviation sector. It also confirmed the success of efforts to reconnect Syria with regional and international air transport networks.
He added the development marked the beginning of the authority’s work to attract more airlines, expand its destination network and strengthen Aleppo International Airport’s role as a main gateway linking Syria with the world.
The three inaugural flights that arrived in Aleppo on Saturday were operated by SunExpress from Antalya, Turkiye; LEAV Aviation from Dusseldorf, Germany; and Flynas from Riyadh, marking the start of regular connections with each destination.
