LONDON: Jordan sent 16 trucks carrying 32 mobile housing caravans to support the people in the Syrian Arab Republic on Monday.

The humanitarian effort was organized by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, according to Jordan News Agency.

Hussein Shibli, the JHCO secretary-general, said the convoy demonstrates Jordan’s commitment to providing needed help to Syria, including food supplies, medicines, medical equipment, flour, ambulances, and mobile housing units.

Syria experienced a devastating civil war from 2011 to 2024, which resulted in 12 million people being forcibly displaced, a weakened economy, and damaged infrastructure. The country has begun to recover following the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime in December 2024.

Jordan was one of the first countries visited by Syrian Interim President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in February 2025. Since December 2024, Jordan has dispatched 23 aid convoys to Syria, totaling 1,072 trucks to assist communities in the neighboring country.
