JEDDAH: Juffali Technical and Vocational Training Corp. is setting up a new institute for training in high technical skills, in cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), on Makkah Road, near Jeddah.

The institute will provide training to 300 Saudi students in various programs conducted annually by a team of Saudi, German and Arab trainers, Khaled Juffali, vice president and executive partner of E.A. Juffali & Brothers Company, told a press conference at the singing ceremony in which Juffali signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TVTC Gov. Dr. Ali Al-Ghafis.

The 74,000 square-meter institute will become operational with the completion of its construction at a cost of SR100 million within a year. Its location is near the Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute on Makkah Road, which trains young Saudis in automobile engineering.

The new institute will train young Saudis in car maintenance, as well as industrial and electrical works. Major German companies will participate as technical partners, led by Mercedes-Benz. The trainers will be from Saudi Arabia, Germany and some Arab countries.

Juffali said that establishing the new training center was in keeping with the company’s long-standing mission of giving Saudi youth the opportunity to be trained and upgraded with practical experiences so as to be well qualified for jobs in various companies.

“We are encouraged by the success of our experience in the field of training,” he said. “A large number of young Saudis have been graduating from our existing Juffali Training Center and have taken up work in our various departments. Some of them have reached highest positions and become the best examples and models for other Saudis.”

Dr. Al-Ghafis described Juffali’s initiative as yet another major step toward upgrading the skills of Saudi youth wanting to join the motor vehicle maintenance industry. “E.A. Juffali & Brothers Co. has a great record in this area,” he said.

“The Kingdom is very keen on supporting plans that offer young Saudis opportunities to join training centers and improve their technical skills and level of practical work so that they are ready for jobs in national companies,” Dr. Al-Ghafis added. TVTC has plans to similarly cooperate with a number of large national companies, he added.

E.A. Juffali & Brothers Company’s experience in technical and vocational training goes back to 1977 when they opened the Juffali Training Center in cooperation with the German company Daimler-Benz.

It offers technical training in several areas including cars, electronics and maintenance. The center also provides special courses for those wanting training courses for their staff, such as Civil Defense, International Airports Projects and Saudi Electricity Company. Thousands of trainees have graduated from the center, some of whom have risen to senior positions in local and international companies.
