Peerzada Qasim, Iftikhar Arif to attend Jeddah ‘mushaira’

JEDDAH: Some of the top Pakistani poets have confirmed their participation for the April 16 “mushaira” being organized by Alami Urdu Markaz. They include Peerzada Qasim, Iftekhar Arif, Rasa Chughtai and Anwar Masood.

The event is part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Pakistan International School, Azizia. “There is tremendous excitement in the community,” said Ather Nafees Abbasi, president of the Alami Urdu Markaz. “Mushairas have assumed importance in Jeddah because of the huge expat population. Everybody is looking forward to this event. The confirmation of Peerzada Qasim and Iftekhar Arif has only added to the overall excitement. Both Qasim and Arif are among the best living poets in the Urdu world today and everybody would naturally want to hear their lines and compositions,” Abbasi added.

He said all arrangement are in place for organizing the event. It will be held at the PISJ-Azizia auditorium and all Pakistani community leaders are involved in making it a success.
