JEDDAH: Vertigo Café & Grille were again the sponsors of this, the 10th race in the Jeddah Road Runners calendar of running events in the western region. Fifty-five runners of all ages took part in a one lap circuit of 5 kilometers.
Familiar names were at the top of the leader-board in all the age categories, with Suleiman and Coleman taking top honors in the male and female categories. Gawani reversed the positions of the previous week when over the longer distance of 8kms, he was pipped by Awaji for second, place, and this time beat his club colleague by three seconds.
New members and visitors to the club this year include some in the female category, with Arnold and Alsaadi doing well to complete the course in under twenty-four minutes. Hobson was not far behind as her preference is for the shorter distances. Bakri and Ahmad ran most of the course together, with the former showing a good finishing speed to clinch 38th position.
In the seniors category, Zebedee also reversed positions with his rival Healam, although the distance between them was very short. Several juniors also competed: Mohammed Alshamrani was comfortably ahead of Aljuffri at the end, with his younger brother, Majed, in third position Farouk did well in her first race to earn a well-round of applause from the others.
