The event will be attended by Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmed and senior journalist and TV commentator Saeed Naqvi.
“A huge Indian Diaspora, mainly old boys of Aligarh Muslim University who have been living and working in the Kingdom, will participate in the celebrations at Riyadh Palace Hotel,” said Mohammad Zaigham Khan, president of AMU Old Boys Association (AMUOBA), Riyadh chapter.
Khan said AMUOBA would also publish a directory containing detailed information about AMU old boys on this occasion. An estimated 1,000 guests will be present.
As part of the celebrations, AMUOBA will also organize the Sir Syed Memorial Debate Competition on Nov. 3.
All Indian students, he said, can participate in the competition to be held at International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR).
The topic for senior students is: Are social networking sites doing us any good or are they just a sophisticated way of stalking people?
The topic of debate for junior students is: Indian media — credible or sensational?
Prizes for the winners will be distributed at the school.
The overall winning team will be invited to the Sir Syed Day function to receive the trophy.
The winner will also be given a chance to show his debating skills during the Sir Syed Day function.
