Israeli deception

How often do we hear about Israeli government releasing Palestinian prisoners? If we carefully observe the frequency and timing of such Israeli moves, it will dawn on us that such announcements are usually made prior to the start of peace talks. Apparently, the Zionist state uses these tactics to dupe the international community into believing that it is making serious efforts for the achievement of peace in the region. In this manner, it tries to cover up its sins like establishment of illegal settlements, Gaza blockade and other atrocities, Israel commits against the Palestinians.
As a matter of fact, it succeeds in hoodwinking the international community as such Israeli announcements always in make huge headlines in the Western media.
All this appears to be nothing more than a cat-and-mouse game. The cat is unable to secure a definitive victory over the mouse, which despite not being able to defeat the cat is able to avoid capture. In extreme cases, the idiom may imply that the contest is never ending. Those who are familiar with ‘Tom and Jerry’ cartoons know as to how this game is played.
On Sunday, an Israeli daily reported that 26 Palestinians languishing in Israeli jails would be released ahead of the renewed peace talks.
Interestingly, despite various similar moves in the past the number of Palestinian inmates in Israeli jails remains almost the same as with every such move more “vacancies” are created to fill up the vacuum. — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
