The much-awaited admissions to Indian International School-Jeddah (IISJ) Kindergarten section for the 2014-15 academic year will open from Sunday.
A school circular issued on Wednesday said parents seeking admission for their children have to submit their requests through the school website www.iisjed.com between Feb. 9 and Feb. 15.
On receiving particulars of children including passport numbers, names of parents, contact details and the grade in which admission is sought, a reference number will be allotted online.
Admissions will be carried out through draw of lots, which will be held on the basis of reference numbers.
The draw for Lower Kindergarten (LKG) will be held on Feb. 22 from 9 to 12 p.m. at the boy’s section of the school in Rehab district.
Draws will be held for morning and afternoon shifts.
The new system has been introduced by the school authorities to ensure transparency and to avoid allegations of nepotism and favoritism.
The school authorities also decided not to consider Indian students from Makkah for lower classes admission this year, taking into account the distance and duration factors for small kids.
With each passing year, the demand for admissions into lower classes has been growing, but space constraint remains the main obstacle for school authorities.
Parents who moved to Jeddah from various cities are also facing a tough time getting admission for their kids.
Secondary classes comprising 10, 11 and 12 are filled with annual promotions from lower grades, making it virtually impossible to accommodate new students coming from outside.
