This is with reference to the report “Premier Modi thanks Sharif for ‘wonderful’ white sari” (June 6). I am sure this report must have pleased everyone. It is heartening to see the relations between the two countries warming up.
It has been reported that this is not the first time Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted about Sharif. Modi had earlier tweeted that the two leaders had “emotional” conversations. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was aware of Modi’s love toward his mother.
It is so nice to see Modi reciprocating the sentiments by sending Sharif’s mother a gift. Both Indians and Pakistanis and members of other SAARC countries have welcomed this sari/shawl diplomacy. We would like to see Modi in Pakistan soon and hope that the ties between the two countries improve at a fast pace in the larger interest of the region.
We urge Sharif and Modi to continue the good work they have started. We wish them all the best. — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
