Mehran, Royal Fighters, Black Caps emerge champions in RCL Power Zone T20 tourney

RIYADH: Mehran, Royal Fighters and Black Caps emerged champions in their respective divisions in the Power Zone Twenty20 finals, sponsored by Power Zone and organized by the Riyadh Cricket League, here.
In the Super Division final, Mehran scored a thrilling two-run win over Pakhtoon Khawah, Royal Fighters got the better of Gujranwala by 5 wickets in the Premier-I division while in the Premier-II Division Black Caps eased past Insaf by 21 runs.
Alam Khan, Mohammed Hussain, Naveed, Waqar, Madani K and Nazar Abbas impressed with their batting and Fakhar and Ali bowled well.
RCL executive committee congratulated the winners and wished better luck for the runners-up.
RCL President Mamoor Elahi announced that the prize distribution ceremony for this tournament and the previous Eid Festival will be held next month.
Mehran put up a total of 203 after they won the toss. After the early fall of opener Ibrahim’s wicket, Mohammed Hussan (66) and Alam Khan (83) took over and were involved in a 150-run partnership. Basharat Shah (10) and Akhtar (13) were the other run getters. Farman and Altaf shared two wickets for the bowling side.
In reply, Pakhtoon were in the game and seemed heading for victory but fell short by two runs.
Khalid Khan (38), Naveed (43), Noman (44) and Farman (38) did their best. Fakhar bowled well and claimed 3 wickets while Jahanzaib and Basharat took 2 wickets each.
Man-of-the-Match: Alam Khan.
In the Premier-I Division, Gujranwala won the toss and set their rivals of 143 runs. Waqar was the man in form and scored 62 valuable runs while wickets kept falling at the other end. Ali bowled well and claimed 3 wickets whereas Madani K., Affaq and Athar took 2 wickets each.
In reply Royal Fighters achieved the total after 18.2 overs. Madani K. was in his element and top-scored with 57 runs. Ali gave his support with 38 runs. Ameen made 16 runs. Ehsan and Irfan took 2 wickets each.
Man-of-the-Match: Madani K.
Black Caps batted first and put up a score of 175 runs. Sanaullah scored 35 runs. After the departure of both the openers Nazar Abbas took charge and made 75 runs. Mudassir scored 15 runs. Waqar, Waheed and Zia took 2 wickets each.
In reply Insaf could not achieve the target and were bowled out for 154 runs. Aamir played well and scored 41 runs while Imran made 22. Amir took 2 wickets. Zahid, Zeeshan, Ahmer, Sanaullah and Wasi claimed a wicket each.
