Faisaliah Team A and Courtyard Marriott triumph in Inter-Hotels Cricket event

Al Faisaliah Team A won its match against Riyadh Marriott while Al Faisaliah-Al Khozama combined Team B went down in defeat to Courtyard Marriott during Friday’s matches in the 16th Riyadh Inter-Hotels Cricket Tournament 2015.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Faisaliah Team A compiled 178 runs all out in 15 overs. The successful batsman for the team was Shammi who scored 51 including 6 sixes and 3 fours while his partner Ganyan Chintha had 24 with 3 sixes. Wasantha added 38 with 3 fours and 2 sixes which were vital in Faisaliah batting. Riyadh Marriott’s bowler Vijith Kumara got 5 wickets for only 19 runs in 4 overs and Mozahid Aslam 4 wickets but their efforts were not enough to contain the Faisaliah A’s batting.
Riyadh Marriott managed only 159 for 9 wickets in 8 overs and lost by 19 runs. Riyadh Marriott’s top batsman Jahir Hossain scored 64 with 5 sixes and 3 fours, Mozahid Aslam contributed 35 and the rest added minimal runs.
The afternoon match was another exciting and thrilling match, as Courtyard Marriott was tense though its General Manager Farham Lone was present to lend morale support to the team.
Courtyard Marriott won the toss and opted to bat first. Courtyard Marriott went on to thrash Al Faisaliah-Al Khozama combined team B in another high scoring match where it tallied 176 for 7 wickets in 16 overs. Inspired by the presence of its GM, Courtyard Marriott had it top batsman Kashan Muhambad scoring 38 runs with 3 sixes and 2 fours. Nilenthi Sumith had 35 with 3 fours and a six while Chaudhury Sajjad made 35 and Muhammad Shahid added 18. Al Faisaliah-Al Khozama’s bowler Fayyaz bagged 3 wickets for 45 runs.
The best that Al Faisaliah-Al Khozama could do was 167 runs for 4 wickets in 16 overs with Fayyaz on 57 with 4 sixes and a four and Mayyur on 50. Courtyard Marriott bowler Nilenthi Sumith claimed 2 wickets for 52 runs.
Courtyard Marriott won by 9 runs.
In matches Friday, it will be host Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers vs. Novotel in the morning and InterContinental Hotel against Ritz Carlton in the afternoon.
