It is really surprising that the international community has failed to come up with a comprehensive strategy to end Syrian crisis. With the passage of time, it is feared that the situation will become worse. The western powers, for some very strange reasons, appear to be ignoring the ugly role of Iran in the Middle East. Instead of taking action against Iran for its interference in the affairs of its neighbors, the western powers are trying to get cozy with Tehran. This policy will only create further problems in the region. Yemen has become the latest victim of Iran’s sectarian agenda. We have yet to see some strong action against the Houthi militants who are threatening the integrity of Yemen.
I think the Arab countries should join hands to counter Iran in the region before it’s too late. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) should expedite the formation of a joint army so as to effectively tackle Iranian proxies in the region. I believe it would be useless to rely on the United Nations or any other force from outside the region. They don’t have the knowledge necessary to take strong actions in the Middle East.
