In the wake of a number of casualties due to inhaling of spray used to remove stains from clothes, the Riyadh police issued a severe warning to parents to keep a close watch on their children to prevent such incidents.
Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman, media spokesman for the Riyadh police, said that some adolescents have used this spray to get intoxicated and have ended up in hospitals with serious consequences.
Al-Maiman said that those who have fallen victims of this type of addiction are mainly teenagers. “Such activities would lead to serious health problems,” he said.
He pointed out that the sprays are not meant for human consumption.
A drug is a chemical substance that can change how one's body and mind works.
Drugs of abuse are substances that people use to get high and change how they feel.
They may be illegal drugs like pot, cocaine, or heroin. Or they may be legal for adults only, like tobacco.
Medicines that treat illnesses can also be abused as drugs when some people take them to get high — not because they're sick and following their doctors’ advice.
Cough or cold medicines can also be abused if they are taken too much at a time.
