Health Ministry post hard to tame

The Ministry of Health has seen as many as five changes in the last one year, earning it the dubious distinction of a chair hard to tame. The latest casualty is still fresh in the minds of the citizens.
“No one has succeeded in this chair,” once quipped the late King Fahd. Five health ministers have been appointed in the past 12 months with various specialties and backgrounds (doctor, engineer, chemist and economist), but none could keep the post.
The ministers were relieved of duties for various reasons, including their failure to deal with viruses or medical mistakes.
Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, in his book title “A life in administration”, cites King Fahd saying: “What do I do with the ministry of health? I chose the most competent men and allocated huge funds, but it didn’t show progress. This is the only sector that didn’t move in line with development. Do you know what I decided to do? I took charge of the ministry.”
