JUC’s new HQ can accommodate 18,000 students

JUBAIL: The Royal Commission for Jubail (RCJ) began construction work of the new headquarters of the Jubail University College (JUC) at Al-Mutrafiah district in Jubail Industrial City on a 2 million sq. meter area, as the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
According to the RCJ, the new college headquarters will accommodate up to 18,000 students and have health and recreational facilities, as well as housing for students and staff.
A field survey has been conducted for future requirements in the current disciplines at the RCJ’s colleges and institutes sector, including chemical engineering, industrial labs, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, electrical and electronic power engineering, civil, polymers and non-destructive testing (NDT) engineering, business management and accounting.
Ali Assiri, general manager of Colleges and Institute Sector at the RCJ, said: “There are a number of disciplines. Other projects will be added when the building is completed as the commission aims to support the workforce in the industry, train staff and develop educational post-secondary graduates, with commitment to quality.”
“The establishment of the new college headquarters is testimony to the importance education is given under the auspices of RCJY Chairman Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan,” he said.
The RCJ’s colleges and institutes sector runs three academic institutes: Jubail University College (JUC), Jubail Industrial College (JIC) and Jubail Technical Institute (JTI). According to recent statistics, 90 percent of RCJ’s male and female graduates are recruited.
Moreover, the sector was granted many international accreditations, including the Accreditation Council for Business School Programs (ACBSP) in all administrative disciplines at the JIC.
The JIC’s Industrial Chemistry Technology (INCT) got the academic recognition of the Canadian Council for Technicians and Technologists (CCTT), while the female graduates of interior design got the engineering classification of the Saudi Society of Engineers.
The JTI was accredited as IT testing center by Pearson VUE and Prometric companies. In addition, the JUC and JIC obtained the membership in the Association of Arab Universities.
​​Jubail University College​ was established in 2006 to achieve the objectives of the Royal Commission, in developing human resources and to provide the Saudi manpower with high education and training, so that they can properly manage the Kingdom’s growing economy in its various sectors.
