Sohail Tanvir graces launch of ALS Intercity Cup

JEDDAH: The ALS JCA-RCL Intercity Cup was formally launched by Pakistan cricketer Sohail Tanvir with Afzal Ahmed Sheikh, executive director and co-sponsor, along with other officials of ALS Borderless Logistics at a glittering ceremony Sunday at La Sani here.
The ceremony was attended by Community Welfare Attache Tehseem ul Haque Haqqi of Pakistan Consulate, Jeddah, eminent personalities including Ashfaq Aleem and Mohammed Ali Jarrar of Ace Travel, Ismail Yamani of Khind Electronics, several members of the Indian and Pakistan cmmunity and other social organizations of Jeddah.
A 2-match ODI series between JCA and RCL, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, is to be played in Riyadh and is co-sponsored by ALS Borderless Logistics which was incorporated with a vision to be a global logistic brand with regional expertise, leading with sustainability, innovation and growth. ALS is part of the Global Union Alliance Group which also owns an electromechanical and HVAC manufacturing unit branded as AIMS based out of Dubai.
At the ceremony chief guest Sohail Tanveer, Pakistan specialist all-rounder, appreciated efforts of JCA for their innovative ideas in conducting cricketing activities for cricketers to display their talent on solid organized professional platform.
It has taken him by surprise particularly in a country like Saudi Arabia where cricket is normally a taboo among Saudi youth as it is yet to catch up but it is thriving due to the passion of expatriates from India-Pakistan and thanks to the tremendous efforts of organizations like JCA whose future aim is to involve the Saudi youth at grassroots level.
He wished the JCA squad all the best for the ODI series to be played against RCL this weekend and gave them finer tips on the art of bowling at the Hala Training Camp where he visited the squad earlier in the evening. He once again thanked Samir Nidal and JCA for giving him an opportunity of visiting the Kingdom to achieve the dual objective of being Chief Guest at the SPL final and ALS Cup launching ceremony for which he is greatly honored and enabling him to visit Makkah and Madina which was his cherished ambition. He assured them that he will take out time from his hectic cricketing schedule to visit Jeddah whenever JCA needs him.
JCA Chairman Faiz Al Abideen thanked sponsors ALS for their support of JCA activities and wished the JCA Squad all the best for the series. JCA Director Samir Nidal was highly appreciative of Sohail Tanvir for honoring his commitment by giving time to JCA at a short notice and providing tips to the JCA squad which will be of immense help to them. JCA Vice President Hamid Rana gave a word of encouragement to JCA squad to be led by Parvez Khan for the 2 match series.
