Kingdom lifts ban on Turkish poultry

RIYADH: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has lifted the temporary ban on the import of poultry meat and eggs from three provinces of Turkey.
The World Organization of Animal Health has issued a report stating control of the high bird flu virulence in the three Turkish provinces, the SFDA said.
“These Turkish provinces are Kastamonu, Balikesir and Manisa,” the SFDA said in a statement.
Saudi Arabia is the world’s second largest importer of chicken broiler meat, a report said.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia also banned imports of poultry meat and egg products from Nebraska and other states in the United States due to the outbreak of avian influenza.
The Kingdom also banned the import of poultry and eggs from the province of Ontario in Canada over avian influenza fears.
