RIYADH: The Kingdom, led by the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE), will participate in the international specialized exhibition on future energy Astana Expo-2017 that aims to address some of the most pressing challenges of modern times — global warming, climate change and energy security.
K.A.CARE media department said here Thursday said that Vice President Waleed Husain Abu Alfaraj, heading the Kingdom's delegation participating in the Astana Economic Forum in Astana, Kazakhstan, reached an agreement on signing the contract of participation in the expo entitled "Future Energy" exhibition that is planned to be held during June to September next year.
This agreement was signed by the commissioner general of the Kingdom's pavilion Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Homoudi and his Kazakh counterpart Rapil Zhoshybayev.
To be held between June 10 and Sept. 10, Astana will host the future energy international specialized Expo for which, so far, 85 countries and over 15 international organizations have confirmed that they will participate in the Astana EXPO-2017 exposition.
As part of Astana Expo, global policy documents will be drafted in order to promote energy conservation and wide use of renewable energy sources.
Visitors to the exhibition will have an opportunity to learn more about various types of energy sources and to enjoy a wide-ranging and varied cultural and entertainment program.
Kazakhstan not only possesses oil and gas reserves but also has considerable potential in the sphere of renewable energy and has started its transition to a "green" economy, setting a good example for other countries that are rich in natural resources.
K.A.CARE is working on renewable energy program Vision 2032, which aims to replace dependence on traditional fossil fuel with eco-friendly atomic and renewable energy to be collected from resources which are naturally replenished.
