Sand City, Wasalak, Pazadaure, KD Balik Islam triumph in SEIKO–JBL

JEDDAH: Sand City of Sonny Soreta defeated SACC 99-83 in the SEIKO-JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Khalidia court here.
Sand City offense was unstoppable in the final quarter as SACC tried hard on defense. Soreta scored 21 points for Sand City and was adjudged as SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Viloria and Bon top-scored with 15 points apiece for SACC.

Wasalak of coach Fred Concepcion beat Fakieh Group 124-123. It was like a championship game between the two top teams in Group B. They both displayed good offense but Wasalak prevailed in the end with a hairline lead. Pugao had 36 points, 33 from the rainbow arc and was adjudged as the Giordano Best Player of the game while Caneta led Fakieh Group with 43 points.

In Friday games, Pazadaure of coach Ray Mangohig defeated ICTHUS 117-99 for their back-to-back wins. ICTHUS had led in the first quarter while Pazadaure applied trapping defense to halt ICTHUS charge. Gonzales top-scored with 43 points for Pazadaure and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while David led ICTHUS with 29 points.

BHBC organized by Noel Lampa and Daboy Fresnido beat Khalidia 40’s 87-82. BHBC displayed never-say-die attitude in the final quarter as Khalidia 40’s missed important baskets in the crucial minutes of the game. Gadiana chipped in 27 points for BHBC and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Catador had 24 points for Khalidia 40’s.

Tetra Pak of Fred Vasquez won over Thunders 78-74. Tetra Pak managed to keep the lead in the fourth quarter as Thunders tried to get back to the game. Collado top-scored with 23 points and was adjudged as the Arab News Best Player of the game while Mickey Leyva had 21 points for Thunders.

KD Balik Islam of playing coach Imet Khalid Villanueva defeated JDC Legend 79-77. KD Balik Islam dominated the shaded area up to third quarter. JDC Legend applied man-to-man defense in the final quarter to trim the lead. JDC Legend missed a three-point shot for the win as the final buzzer had sounded. Abdulaziz Paloma had 18 points for KD Balik Islam and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Jaber Gonzales top-scored with 38 points for JDC Leylaty.
