DUBAI: If you are one of those people who struggle to explain your musical tastes then this might be the answer to your problems.

A Japanese firm has created a machine that adds taste to any song you choose to listen to.

The company, Squeeze Music, claims to have created a juke box-come-juicer that can analyze a song for feelings, such as romance, excitement, or sadness and turn these into drink flavors.

The device looks at a song’s waveform, and then mixes together flavors according to the emotional qualities of each song.

Each emotion has a specific flavor: happy = sweet, exciting = sour, romantic = astringent, sentimental = salty and sad = bitter.

The current device is just a prototype, but the Nomura Open Innovation Lab, which developed Squeeze Music, is working to expand the machine’s range and the inventors hope their machine will eventually become available of the commercial market.
