The Science Creativity Festival which concluded here on Sunday announced 36 winners from the Kingdom who will participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair scheduled for May this year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the fields of innovation and scientific research.

According to the organizer, Abdul Hakim Al-Daoud, 72 individual and collective projects won awards in various categories during the event which also featured the National Science Olympiad Innovation competition.

He said, besides the SR700,000 in cash prizes, the winners will also receive special awards from the private and public sectors, including scholarship and interim courses inside and outside the country, under the supervision of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba).

According to the organizer, Saudi Aramco has honored 20 participants with special prizes — 10 awards for boys and 10 for girls in the field of science and technology.

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has also honored 12 participants in the field of chemistry and organized a visit for them to the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has sponsored five winners in the field of water and energy production. This year, 762 students in 17 scientific areas presented their works in scientific research and innovation.
