RIYADH: The Secretary-General of the Arab Red Cross and Red Crescent Society Saleh Al-Tuwaijri called upon the Arab youth to donate blood, contributing to saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of sick and needy and those awaiting surgical operations.

Al-Tuwaijri highlighted the difficulties facing blood banks in the Arab countries, working around the clock to meet the needs of government and private hospitals to maintain blood reserves.

Al-Tuwaijri made these remarks on World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 each year.

The secretary-general called for intensified donation campaigns to save the lives of the sick and those injured in accidents, disasters, wars and diseases.
