Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius has called for stronger cultural, educational and business relations between the Kingdom and his country.

Speaking after the inauguration of the first consulate of Lithuania here, he sounded optimism over cooperation between the two countries on research and development, education and business.

Linkevicius held a meeting with the officials of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI). He was welcomed by Abdullah Marei bin Mahfouz, member of the board of directors at JCCI.

Lithuanian Ambassador Dainius Junevicius and Simonas Satunas, director of the Economic Relations Department, were present on the occasion. Earlier, Linkevicius paid a visit to Prince Mishaal bin Majed, governor of Jeddah.

A possible visit of Saudi businessmen to Lithuania in 2015 and a direct flight between the two countries were also discussed at the meeting.

“I strongly believe that the two nations will be able to boost ties in culture, research and development and universities,” said Linkevicius at the opening ceremony.

Abdullah Marei Bin Mahfouz said bilateral relations need to be developed between the two countries to establish partnerships between Saudi and Lithuanian companies.

He said that the Kingdom offers a conducive environment for foreign investment.
