Dammam is gearing up to celebrate the Saudi National Day on Sept. 23 and the Eid Al-Adha festivities by opening several new gardens and squares for the public.

The Eastern Province Mayoralty inaugurated 29 squares and gardens in Dammam equipped with services and amenities to mark the National Day.

Fahad bin Mohammad Al-Jubair, secretary general of the Eastern Provincial Council (EPC), said that the new gardens and squares due to open soon include green areas and gardens in the King Fahd suburbs for the first time.

Al-Jubair said that all the gardens have the needed services and facilities, including children’s amusement parks, canopies, and playgrounds for a variety of sports.

Al-Jubair highlighted the importance of gardens as areas that have a social role in serving the neighborhood residents and providing them with an entertainment venue for families and young people.

The Eastern Province also is executing the construction of a number of gardens and squares as well as renovating the old gardens, he said.

Abdul Hadi Al-Qahtani said that the EPC secretary general has given directions to speed up the execution of the public gardens and squares.

Al-Qahtani pointed out that the mayoralty plans to double the number of public gardens and municipal squares in all residential neighborhoods so that all citizens can have access to them.

Al-Qahtani told Arab News that the gardens and squares to be inaugurated shortly include Bad, Al-Nawras, Taiba, Al-Ali, Al-Nuzha, Al-Fakhrya, Al-Dabab and Al-Fursan neighborhoods, as well as gardens in Al-Manar, Badr, Al-Aziziya and Al-Mazro’ya neighborhood.

Another square was constructed in Northern Al-Raka neighborhood and gardens in Taib and Nada neighborhoods and Al-Mujawer Al-Thani Al-Thalet garden, Mujawer Al-Thalt Al-Rabi, Al-Thani Al-Thaleth squares, Mujawer Al-Rabi in King Fahd suburb.

Northern Al-Dana, and Nisf Al-Qamar beach, Al-Mousa, Al-Douha squares are among the new gardens as well as Al-Murjan, Al-Douha, and Al-Mousa squares in Dhahran and Al-Hizam Al-Dhahabi, Khuzama, and Theinya’ya in Alkhobar.

Al-Jubair added that these gardens and public squares are a new addition to the touristic and recreational projects in the province. These projects aim to attract a large number of Eastern Province tourists.
