JEDDAH: An additional 30 people in Saudi Arabia have died of COVID-19-related conditions, authorities announced on Thursday. The total number of deaths now stands at 4,399.

Tests have confirmed 593 new cases in the Kingdom, which means that 328,144 people have contracted the disease. Of those, 16,538 cases remain active, and 1,180 patients are in critical condition.

According to the Ministry of Health, Jeddah had the highest number of new cases in the Kingdom, with 55, while there were 50 in Makkah, 40 in Madinah, and 39 in Riyadh.

A further 1,203 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 307,207. Meanwhile, 5,917,184 COVID-19 tests have been carried out, 49,035 of which were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly reiterated the importance of following the quarantine procedures that are required for all those who come into contact with an infected person without protection for a sustained period.
