ROME: On Italian Liberation Day, April 25, the Saudi Embassy in Rome illuminated its building with the colors of the Italian flag, as a sign of solidarity in the common struggle against COVID-19.

“On this important day for Italian national history, the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Italy wishes to renew its deep and sincere closeness to … the Italian people, who were among the first to face this terrible pandemic,” the embassy said in a statement.

“We are grateful to Italy for its leading role and example taken in the health management of coronavirus. We are confident that with firmness and resilience, it will be able to overcome this challenge. We are by your side.”

This is part of the Arab Solidarity Initiative with Italy in the fight against COVID-19, launched by the Council of Arab Ambassadors earlier this month.

As part of the initiative, all Arab embassy buildings are illuminated with the colors of the Italian flag.
