JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia recorded 405 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, raising the total number of cases to 338,944. Infections in the Kingdom have been decreasing since June 16, when cases exceeded 4,000 a day.
There are currently 9,184 active cases, with 842 of these in critical care units. Of Saturday’s new cases, 58 percent are male, 12 percent are children and 4 percent are adults above the age of 65.
The death toll increased by 22, bringing the total number to 5,018.
There were 455 recoveries recorded, raising the total number to 324,737. Madinah reported 55 recoveries, Makkah and Riyadh had 40 apiece and Yanbu had 34 recoveries.
Saudi Arabia’s health authorities have conducted 46,189 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of tests conducted so far to 6.97 million. The Ministry of Health said that more than 1.27 million people have visited Tetamman clinics in the past 48 hours. These facilities are for people who have COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath and chest pain.
