Boleros served notice of their title designs after a spectacular perfect double with the lead to boot during the 13th session in the Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 9th Season at the Sultanah Center’s Bowling City here.

Boleros posted the league’s first perfect score of 32 on the way to the Team of the Week award with Cesar Monares setting up a double by claiming the Bowler of the Week accolade.

Monares fired the high series of 710 and hit the jackpot prize of SR900 with a 278 in the second game that surpassed the score to beat of 269. A Class A bowler and soon to be Class O, Monares had that 278 sandwiched by 192 and 240.

Escalera, the recent back-to-back Team of the Week, finished a far second on 23 followed by Thumbs-up and Habagat who tied on 18 points. Bowling City was on 17 while Kabayan Food tumbled out of the lead after a modest tally of 15 points. OFBC and D’ Barkads brought up the rear on 11 and 10.

This is the third time the lead changed hands in recent weeks in this five-man team Thursday night league event. After Kabayan lost the lead to D’ Barkads on the 11th week it snatched the top spot back the following week only to lose it for the second time to Boleros.

With Monares at the helm, Boleros swept the first-place points of 8 for three games as well as overall output in a singularly remarkable performance.

Nanding Siasoco shot 642 to support Monares, while Ruben Grino added 586, Bonnie Garcia tossed in 228-213 while Danny Pamintuan had a pair of 176s and Jack Jarin 171.

The trio of Sid Sagun, Edward Butardo and Frank Afurong rolled complete games of 580, 577 and 560 at the forefront of Escalera, which also received 203-205 from Mac Galang and two games each from Dylan Ilagan 156-158, Ally Bin 154-157 and Mac Galang 203-205.

Rudy Valenzuela topscored at Thumbs-up on 615 followed by Alex Flora 577, Rene Punzalan 555 and Ernie Geslani 529. Jay Bengco contributed 176-190 and Kaleem Salim 173.

Habagat banked on a single set of five players led by Jun De Dios who drilled 623. George Mangaliman had 601, Ver Jasa 585, Hadi Pacheco 527 and Tom Langa 507.
