Just two weeks after scoring a perfect double Boleros were in the limelight again as the Team of the Week during the 15th session in the Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 9th Season at the Sultanah Center’s Bowling City here.

Boleros won a two-horse race for honors with Habagat to end up with the top tally of 28 points.

Habagat settled for second place on 26 though it did no go home empty handed after George Mangaliman saved the Bowler of the Week award for the team after shooting the high series of 637 on lines of 202, 194, 178.

D’ Barkads, the second game winner, took the third position on the night with 21.5 points followed by OFBC 19 and Thumbs-Up 17.5. Escalera, Bowling City and Kabayan Food brought up the rear on 15, 11 and 6 points.

Habagat and Boleros finished the first game at 1-2, a position they switched places at in the third game although what virtually decided the race was when Habagat collapsed to sixth place in the second game compared to the third-place ranking by Boleros.

Danny Pamintuan and Bonnie Garcia took charge at Boleros with rounds of 573 and 563, while Ruben Grino added 557 and Elo Manalo 546. Nanding Siasoco tallied 183-175 and Jack Jarin had 189 to cover the Boleros’ remaining three games.

Tom Langa was 15 pins short of 600 as he supported Mangaliman on 585 to go with the 546 by Hadi Pacheco, 5423 by Bash Langa, and 537 by Manny Tibay. Nap Patayan was among the few to breach the 600-series mark on 627 at the helm of D’ Barkads who also netted 596 from Leo Edejer, 575 from Romy Bunagan, 543 from Rey Beltran and 469 from Bing Amolo.

The Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club had June Estefano in the forefront on 557 followed by Robert Stone 535 and Rudy Jamon 517. Contributing two games each were team captain Joel Niody 182-222, Toto Lim 182-180 and Ding dela Rosa 181-154.

Ernie Geslani paced Thumbs-up on 627 with Alex Flora on 512 and Rudy Valenzuela on 503.
