Edris Mangoda and Mariz Resano remarkably unleashed their winning game in the ultimate match to capture the men’s and ladies titles during the FEDBG monthly tournament for June at the Bowling City here.

Topping Class C with 4-game scratch series of 790, Mangoda was challenged and won over Nezar for C championship 190-169. Nezar outbowled Renato Gonzales 167, Ed Viray 159, Richard Antonio 183, and Edward Botardo 160 in their 1-game shootout. Nezar tried to intimidate Mangoda but the latter kept his track until he ended the former’s hope at 3-mark advantage. Surviving other class championships are Henry Kahayon beating Melvin Lising in A, Marcelo Manalo winning over Rolly Vistal in B and Melo Amano outbowling Tadz in group DE.

Mangoda had a steady pace with 178 at third position on the opening of the 2-game 4-bowler race finals with Amano leading with 215 followed by Kahayon with 193 and Manalo at 161. Entering the last game, Mangoda kept Amano at bay by notably trading marks. But when he found his track Mangoda started troubling Amano with rocking strikes. Mangoda chained to seven till his explosion placed him in advantage of 262. This sudden spark for Mangoda for a 449 total made him the FEDBG men’s champion of June with Amano, runner-up on 421 including his last ditch of 206. Kahayon tried catching up but missed and splits stalled him in third place for a 354 while Manalo failed to finish higher than fourth at 343 despite his best effort.

In the ladies division, Eloisa Fernandez took the early lead on 223 with Grace Funtilon, Evelyn Santoc and Kim Heuring joining her in the winning cut off. Average follow up kept the two leaders in place but Sally Sañosa suddenly appeared in third on her 215 catchup and Resano moved up to fourth at 190.

With a 210 , Resano remarkably moved threateningly close to Fernandez at 598-596. Fernandez tried keeping the top post with 190. A close fight then ensued between the two title campaigners trying to see a space to get through.

In the end it was Resano that gained the edge to dramatically clinch the title by two pins over Fernandez. On endgame blitz of 188 Resano emerged ladies champion at 782 total, Fernandez was runner-up on 780, Funtilon third on 771 and Sañosa fourth on 766.
