RIYADH: Mehran and Run Riderz emerged supreme in the Super and Premier Divisions Twenty20 cricket league, to lift the Mumtaz Champions Trophy, sponsored by the Mumtaz Cricket Academy and organized by the Riyadh Cricket League.

In the finals of the eight-week tourney, Mehran got the better of Mazaya Hyderabadi Boyz by 6 wickets while Run Riderz had to fight hard for their 29-run win over Konkan Green.

The highlights of the finals was excellent batting performances by Minhaj, Saleem, Manoj and Basharat.

In the Super Division, Mazaya made first use of the track and managed 147 runs. Ismail (40) and Fazil (31) were the main scorers.

Faqar did most of the damage and claimed 4 wickets. Basharat got 2.

In reply, Mehran chased comfortably and achieved their target for the loss of four wickets with three overs to spare. Basharat made batting look easy with a match winning innings of 47 runs followed by Usman’s 32.

Man-of-the-Match: Faqar 4 wickets.

The Premier Division final was a closely fought encounter. Run Riderz batted first and piled up 202 runs. Thank to Minhaj’s match winning innings of 94 runs, supported by Saleem’s 56. Siraj impressed with his bowling and bagged 4 wickets.

In reply Konkan were off a flying start with Manoj (77) and Saifullah (36). However, the batsmen to follow frittered away the advantage and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Basith did most of the damage as he took 4 wickets.

Man-of-the-Match: Minhaj 94 runs.

During the prize Jawaid Munawar CEO RCL anchored the presentation and thanked the guests for sparing time to watch the tough and exciting finals. Razaur Rahman, senior adviser, thanked sponsor Mohammad Rafeeq MD of Mumtaz Group for making this event a success.

Among the large crowd who witnessed the finals was Sajid Khan, Hyderabad Deccan’s and India’s famous comedian nicknamed “Gullu Dada” and many distinguished guests.
