Malou Nidoy became the first to repeat as Bowler of the Month after she topped the OFBC monthly tournament for June in the ladies division last Friday at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

The men’s June Bowler of the Month was the veteran Hadi Pacheco who barely made the cut during the qualifying round.

Already the champion for March, the Class B bowler Nidoy banked on a superb second game to win by 3 pins from Class A Fatima Jintarat. Nidoy carded 386 on scratch games of 132 and 182 in the two-game finals to Jintarat’s 383 (175-154). Two Class C players in Fedelyn Bustinera and Jana Delia Felesmina finished second and third runner-up on 374 (166-118) and 370 (108-172).

Pacheco won the men’s title after the high and low rule was applied to break the tie with Cesar Pagtalunan after they both totaled 377.

Class B Pacheco shot scratch games of 166-179 while Pagtalunan had 145-168.

Tirso Bambalan, a Class D player like Pagtalunan, took the second runner-up position on 374 (170-140) while Caloy Nuguit was third runner-up on 373 (178-147).

Malou actually went all the way to her second championship having topped the four games qualifying on 812 on lines of 183, 171, 136 and 178.

Pagtalunan topped the men’s division qualifying on 832 (179, 156, 187 and 182).

This was the sixth in a series of monthly events in the leadup to the year-end Bowler of the Year Championship in December where the organizing OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) is putting up two brand new laptops as the top prizes. As usual, OFBC supporter Makatifoods through Robert Stone gave away a 5kg. bag of rice to each of the first-place winners in addition to the cash prizes. The rest of the winners received cash prizes, too.
